About Me

Hi! I’m Kellie, and I would love to help you simplify your homeschool!

Here’s me with my four awesome kiddos: Daisy, Tank, SlothMan, and Bitty! These are hopefully obvious pseudonyms. 😉 They helped pick them.

I am here to help you find your very own weirdly simple homeschooling solutions. My favorite thing is watching families thrive within the freedom that comes from raising independent learners! By changing our mindset from school-at-home to the freedom of a homeschooling lifestyle, we get front row seats to our children’s passionate curiosity and self-motivation! And I love to help families figure out HOW to do this SIMPLY. I love finding LOW-STRESS solutions to each family’s individual needs!

I am really good at relaxing. This probably sounds a little crazy from someone who has a diagnosed anxiety disorder! But my lifelong journey with learning how to cope with anxiety has taught me how to cope with so much more, especially homeschool stress. I’ve learned how to let go of unrealistic expectations, and how to trust my kids in their own very individual learning journeys. I’m not at all perfect in this, but I’m truly enjoying continuing to grow in this area of letting go so that I can watch how much more my kids can truly thrive!

I’ve sincerely enjoyed helping both friends and strangers (hello, wonderful facebook groups!) with their homeschooling journeys over the years!

How do I know what I’m talking about? (Admittedly, sometimes I don’t! Hah!)

  • Besides being a mom to four amazingly individual kiddos, I’m also a former public high school English teacher. I loved teaching! I did not love the bureaucracy. 😉 I chose to stay home when our first child was born.
  • Writing is my wheelhouse, and I’ve tutored other homeschool students in writing over the years. In addition to my BSE in English, I also have half (yes, half…I quit grad school when I chose to stay home with my babies!) a Master’s degree in English with a creative writing emphasis.
  • I’m currently an admin for our local area’s homeschooling facebook group, and I love connecting with other homeschool families.
  • I’m passionate (maybe a little obsessed) about researching anything related to my kids’ needs.
  • I love learning new things, and I’m constantly retuning our homeschool.

More about me:

  1. I love to chill on the couch with my husband on weekend nights and binge watch procedural detective shows.
  2. I prefer to sleep in as late as possible (and also stay up too late!).
  3. Simple organizational tools are my favorite. I’m kind of obsessed with cube storage.
  4. I love dark chocolate.
  5. I had a successful photography business for several years, but had to “retire” from that when a wrist injury didn’t heal properly. I’m still a bit sad about leaving professional photography, but I find great joy in photographing our family life.
  6. I would rather leave the dirty dishes and piles of laundry in favor of family time.
  7. My love language is food. 😉
  8. We are a Star Wars family, and that’s entirely my doing.
  9. I’m a nerd at heart.
  10. I love Jesus.
